Today, November 1, a press conference took place regarding the special offer made available for companies by the campaign “Immortalize Your Name in the Castle of Light!” During the conference, the Latvian Minister of Culture, Helēna Demakova, the director of the Latvian National Library Foundation, Karina Pētersone, and the director of the Latvian National Library, Andris Vilks, invited company leaders to support and become more actively involved in the Latvian National Library project. The participants revealed the name of the company that, over the course of several years, has donated LVL 51,000 to the LNB project and which will receive, as thanks for its support, the opportunity to immortalize its name on a plaque by the reference and information center’s reading room in the Castle of Light.

The Latvian National Library Foundation has set up donation stands for the LNB project in several places throughout Riga. With the commencement of such a large-scale fund-raising campaign, the Foundation invites Latvian citizens to show their support of and actively participate in the creation of the Castle of Light.

On February 23, 2006, the Latvian National Library Foundation unveiled the campaign “Immortalize Your Name in the Castle of Light!” The campaign was begun in order to promote the construction of the new library and express special thanks to the supporters of the LNB project. This is a unique opportunity for anyone to immortalize his or her name in the Castle of Light, thereby leaving a record of oneself for the next generation.
