On October 22, 2007, Latvian President Valdis Zatlers met with the director of the Latvian National Library Foundation, Karina Pētersone, and the chairman of the board of the National Library Foundation, Undīne Būde, who informed the President about the activities of the Foundation.

Today, September 28, 2007, the Latvian National Library Foundation submitted a letter, prepared by the Foundation, to Prime Minister Aigars Kalvītis, the Cabinet of Ministers, and the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia.

Today, upon the invitation of the Latvian National Library Foundation, members of the Latvian intelligentsia and supporters of the Latvian National Library (LNB) project met at the New Riga Theater.

This year, the Latvian National Library Foundation is continuing the campaign “Donate a Computer to Your Library!” begun in 2004. In evaluating the current developmental stage of the unified library information system, the Foundation saw an object necessity to continue the campaign to support Latvia’s school libraries. Thanks to the supporters of the campaign, more than thirty school libraries will receive a total of eighty fully equipped donated computers before the beginning of the new school year.

SIA Bensons Auto, a Latvian dealer of Honda automobiles and other Honda products, is the second company to reserve an auditorium in the future Castle of Light. The company’s chairman of the board, Māris Bensons, has selected the group activity room located near the social sciences and humanities reading room, on the second floor of the new building.
