Immortalize Your Name in the Castle of Light!

For the first time, a library is being built in Riga that will become the symbol of education and culture in Latvia – and perhaps even the symbol of Latvia all over the world – for many generations to come. The Latvian National Library (L.N.L.) will not just be a book depository; it will be a multi-functional center where users may find the information they need, learn new things, visit exhibits, hold conference and seminars, and spend their free time in a constructive way.

The L.N.L. project needs the support of the entire community; that’s why we invite each and every citizen and business to donate to the project. Each donor’s name will be immortalized in the new Castle of Light.

Depending on the size of the donation, the name of each donor will be immortalized in the interior of the Castle of Light.

Ls 1-100 (2 - 150 EUR)

Donor’s name is entered in a special book

Ls 100 or more (150 EUR or more

Donor’s name is engraved on a large wall plaque in the atrium

Ls 300 (450 EUR)

Donor’s name is engraved on a chair plaque in a public reading room

Ls 500 (700 EUR)

The donor will be identified on a table plaque in a reading room

Ls 1000 (1500 EUR)

The donor’s name will appear on a shelf plaque in a reading room

Starting from Ls 50 000 (or Ls 450 per sq. metre) (Starting from 71 000 EUR or 650 EUR per sq. metre)

Your name will be displayed in one of the library’s auditoriums or reading rooms

In this section of the Web site, you may choose and reserve the floor or room in the Castle of Light where you wish to see your name immortalized. Donations may be made immediately, using a credit card, or by direct deposit, at the Parex banka, Hansabank, or SEB Unibanka branch nearest you.

The immortalization of names in the new L.N.L. building is guaranteed by the agreement “On the Reflection, in Informative Materials and the Interior of the Latvian National Library Building, of Donors’ Support for the Development of the Latvian National Library Project,” entered into by the Latvian National Library Foundation and the Latvian Ministry of Culture.
